Objectives

To design and to develop the Mobile Media Delivery Subsystem (MMDS) according to specifications agreed in WP10 (D10.1 System architecture and design document). The functionalities of this subsystem will be documented to be clear to end-users (mobile learner).

Description of work

The design and development of the MMDS will be accomplished by utilizing capabilities of an available Mobile Multimedia Platform system and adding the capabilities and requirements defined for the MOBIlearn project. The workpackage will be accomplished in a series of defined tasks that will culminate in the delivery of the final release system:

• Task 8.1 MMDS Specification.
  This task will be accomplished by identifying the baseline capabilities that are needed and already available on the Mobile Multimedia Platform, as well as the capabilities and features that need to be added to the baseline platform. The result will be the delivery of the subsystem specification document.
• Task 8.2 High-Level Design.
  This task will result in a high-level design of the new components that are required for the Mobile Media Delivery Subsystem, detailing the interface specification for accessing these new components, as well as a definition of the capabilities that will be available following the completion of each prototype system.
• Task 8.3 Implementation.
  The implementation will be accomplished in three phases to support the delivery of two prototype systems plus a final release version. Each prototype phase will incorporate additional system features. Each phase will include the following activities: Detailed Design, Coding, Unit Testing and Integration. Implementation of the final phase will also include a series of well-defined system tests following integration, to insure that the system reliably meets the defined requirements. Each implementation phase will be a joint effort of several development teams - these include the platform team, terminal team, codecs and algorithm team and integration team.

Incrementally improved releases of the subsystem will be integrated in corresponding MOBIlearn prototypes (WP10) and evaluated according criteria and cycles defined in WP2. Partner 7 coordinates WP8.

• PM26 D8.2 Mobile media delivery final release with documentation

• Result: Mobile media delivery subsystem developed, tested and documented.
• PM11 M8.1 Mobile media delivery first prototype
• PM17 M8.2 Mobile media delivery second prototype.
