Objectives

To design and to develop the Collaborative Learning Subsystem (CLS) according to specifications agreed in WP10 (D10.1 System architecture and design document). The functionalities of this subsystem will be documented to be clear to end-users (mobile learner).

Description of work

This WP is part of the implementation phase, it will use the specifications from WP10 to satisfy the requirements derived from WP2. The work involves the following tasks:

• Task 9.1 To identify and document the basic components of the Collaborative Learning Subsystem (CLS) and define (more precisely than D10.1) the interfaces with the other subsystems.
• Task 9.2 To implement the first prototype of the CLS. The effort will focus on the integration of standard web technologies with existing open source COTS components into a solid environment. The assembled software modules will be tested within a lab environment.
• Task 9.3 To implement the second prototype of the CLS. More functionality will be added to the system and improvements will be made. The assembled software modules will be tested within a controlled mobile environment.
• Task 9.4 To integrate the CLS to the Learning Content Management Subsystem (WP7) and implement the final CLS documented according to WP10 specifications. Improvements according to the test results within a mobile environment will be realized.

Incrementally improved releases of the subsystem will be integrated in corresponding MOBIlearn prototypes (WP10) and evaluated according criteria and cycles defined in WP2. Partner 4 coordinates WP9.

• PM6 D9.1 Collaborative learning subsystem specification document
• PM26 D9.2 Collaborative learning final release with documentation

Milestones and expected result

• Result: Collaborative learning subsystem developed, tested and documented.
• PM11 M9.1 Collaborative learning first prototype
• PM17 M9.2 Collaborative learning second prototype.
