Today COSMOTE is the dominant provider of mobile telecommunications services in Greece. It is one of the three operators licensed to provide mobile telecommunications services in the country and was until August 2001 the only operator in Greece licensed to provide telecommunication services within the GSM 1800 system. The company entered the Greek cellular market in April 1998, five years after its competitors and in only three years of operation has achieved the first position in the market, both in terms of subscribers and profitability. COSMOTE has also achieved nationwide coverage, by providing services to 99% of the Greek population, in less than one third of the time it has taken its competitors to reach the same point. The company has been characterized as the most successful third entrant in Europe.

COSMOTE's principal objective is to continue to capitalize on the opportunities it believes are available in the growing and evolving mobile market in Greece and abroad. The following strategies will be employed in pursuit of this objective:

• Exploit the bandwidth advantage of its network;
• Continue to promote a simple, user friendly tariff structure;
• Provide wide access to advanced value added services;
• Increase revenues from corporate customers;
• Deliver high level customer care and control the churn rate at low levels;
• Continue to create brand awareness, and improve and expand the distribution network;
• Increase roaming revenues;
• Develop Internet services;
• Make selective investments.

COSMOTE's vision is to reinforce its dominant market position, quality of services and profitability. The Products and Services Department is responsible for the planning and the development of the value added services that are offered to the COSMOTE subscribers and the foreign mobile subscribers that visit the COSMOTE network. The department has developed a long list of innovative services, like mobile portal, voice recognition services, wireless office...COSMOTE is an active member of the GSM Association, the group that represents all GSM operators world-wide.
