University of Southern Queensland (USQ, AU)

The University of Southern Queensland has built a reputation since its founding in 1967 for offering quality academic courses which are recognised worldwide, and in particular for the excellence of its distance education courses. It is located on spacious, landscaped grounds ten minutes drive from the centre of Toowoomba, in southeast Queensland, Australia. Approximately 5000 students (including about 900 international students from 40 nations) study on-campus, and 13,000 off-campus by distance learning (including 3,000 off-shore). Some of our international students are shown in this photograph, on their National Day. Our graduates are strongly sought after in the workplace, and independent surveys show they have a very high overall satisfaction rate with the standard of the courses and support offered to them. The University is truly student-centred and emphasises learning experiences and individual needs.

USQ's flexible approach to education is an essential element of its teaching. It is recognised as providing one of Australia's most progressive university preparation (UNIPREP) and degree programmes for international students. Courses are offered in the Faculties of Arts, Business, Commerce, Education, Engineering and Surveying, and Science in professional and vocational subjects; and at a a number of levels from Certificate and Associate Degree, to Masters and Doctorate.

The Toowoomba Campus offers excellent facilities. Students have 24 hour access to well-equipped computer laboratories, and other facilities include television and radio studios, performing arts theatres, concert hall, visual arts studios, modern science and engineering laboratories and lecture theatres, a library which emphasises client support, especially for offcampus students and with excellent electronic resources, and a world-class indoor sport and recreation centre. The campus has a childcare centre, bank teller machines, bookshop and stationery shop, a variety of eating places, a post office, travel agent and a hairdresser.

The Wide Bay campus, located at Hervey Bay near Maryborough and Fraser Island, provides a relaxed atmosphere for its students. It offers courses in most faculties at first year level and a growing number of second year studies, utilising on-site and Internet technology to facilitate synchronous teaching with state-of -the-art videoconferencing facilities.
