Sheffield Hallam University (SHU, UK)

Sheffield Hallam is one of Britain's most progressive and innovative universities, but our reputation for excellence is not enough - we aim to surpass the expectations of students, clients and employers League tables in the British press consistently place Sheffield Hallam among the top modern universities. The University's ranking in the Sunday Times University League Tables has risen for the third successive year and has been ranked second of the 'new' universities. As you might expect of any successful and ambitious university today, our role in education and research is national and, increasingly, international.

Where learning can flourish
Right in the heart of Sheffield's busy city centre is the University's impressive City Campus, a welcoming modern environment with some of the finest learning and teaching facilities in Europe. Around this hub revolves a flourishing, diverse academic community. Our second campus, only a couple of miles away, is a complete contrast. The tranquil Collegiate Campus is set among lawns and trees in one of Sheffield's leafiest suburbs - just as typical of this city, England's greenest, as the bustling city centre. Plans for further development of both campuses well into the 21st century are already well advanced. The present third campus at Psalter Lane is soon to be replaced by a state of the art complex, a new home for the School of Cultural Studies in Sheffield's Cultural Industries Quarter. We've invested more than £70 million in new building on City Campus. The Adsetts Centre - an advanced multimedia learning resources centre. The Stoddart Building, home to Sheffield Business School and many of our services to business, is packed with computer suites and contains a videoconferencing centre often used to link up with colleagues and partners overseas. Our programme of continuous improvement to buildings and to learning and teaching facilities will continue. Alongside plans for a new home for the School of Cultural Studies close to City Campus, refurbishment of Collegiate Campus buildings is already under way. The work is improving conditions for all students and staff and creating an impressive, comprehensively equipped home for the Sports Science Research Institute. A new main entrance to City Campus will greatly improve access and reception services for visitors. Its quality and design will enhance the city centre environment and it forms an integral part of Sheffield's Heart of the City regeneration project.
